That is an impressive map…and to think that you did all that in 14 days! Are certain parts of you numb? This is an inspiration for the rest of us to get out on the roads, but in the meantime, I enjoyed your journey.

Congrats on another trip, Jim. I envy you.
Next year, why not a 10-day river float into the lower canyons of the Rio Grande where you will see no one at all for the duration. Except your guide, who you really have to like.

“next year” will probably feature a move for our family and perhaps one or two other significant changes as well. I have my doubts about our ability to handle a road trip next year.
Hopefully I will be able to swing a much shorter and more local but still multi-day getaway with my wife.

That…is one huge trip route.
I’m impressed.

In a few weeks my husband and I will be taking a “road trip” to Wisconsin. We will be staying in Michigan the first night and heading out early the next morning to WI. This will be our third time to visit. Previously we stopped in Indiana to sleep. A little change of scenery this time around. We are renting a car. I wanted to go in my Firebird but my husband said he wanted to be able to walk when we get there. I wonder what he meant by that???

Melody,
I failed to say this earlier: welcome to the blog. You’re welcome to visit and/or comment any time.
As for your road trip, do you just have a thing for Wisconsin or is there a specific place you like to go (or maybe both are true)?

Julie,
Yes, it was pretty huge. Lots of driving, which doesn’t bother me at all.
I especially like the part of the map where the purple line makes this sudden turn toward Canada. There are some nice people that live up that way.

There are a lot of quaint towns in WI. Fond Du Lac, Chippewa Falls, Watertown, Mayville etc. The people are very laid back and very friendly. The cost of living is much lower than what we are used to so more for your money. Oh, one more thing Lineys Red one of my husband’s favorite beers something he discovered on our first trip!

I can’t believe you came as CLOSE (by West Texas standards) to Midland, as you did, and didn’t pop in for coffee and conversation ……
Don’t make me come to Pottstown! I’ll do it! I mean it! You think I’m joking? I’m a dang-Yankee-from-bask-east-living-out-west on the edge!

I’ll believe it when I see it, pard.
And when I do, the coffee’s on me.
