That Darth Vader, he is such a kidder.
Face it you Viacom nimrods, you could never come up with something this creative.
I am tempted to sit here and play with this thing all flippin’ night.
It is just way too cool. You try.
Here is a lengthy blog post called How Second Life Impacts Our First Life that made my eyes glaze over. His point, I think, which actually does make a certain kind of sense: “SL offers us a way to construct alternative models of the world and then step inside them and experience what it might feel like to live in a different social order.”
And below, I explain how Second Life Impacts* My First Life…
*note use of impact as verb. How very.
Technoids are buzzing about it, but I just do not get pipes. At all.
Is there someone out there who can tell me why an application that’s almost completely unintuitive as well as user-unfriendly is garnering so much positive attention?
Didn’t think so.
Cnet reports that Adobe plans to launch a free, hosted version of Photoshop sometime this year.
“That is new (for Adobe). It’s something we are sensitive to because we are watching folks like Google do it in different categories, and we want to make sure that we are there before they are, in areas of our franchises,”
That’s Adobe CEO Bruce Chizen droppin’ some knowledge.
From the novice point of view (which is the only one I know), Adobe’s file types don’t play well with others, though there are some open source and independent products out there (such as mis_nomer’s current heartthrob The Gimp) that have created ways around this problem.
I’m glad to hear about Adobe’s promised web presence. But Google is throwing out applications pretty quickly, and I’d be very surprised if Photoshop is successful at “getting there before they are.”
“massively multiplayer”
Yesterday Cowtown Pattie emailed to ask if I was planning on playing Uru Live. I hadn’t known that Uru Live was live, so I checked it out.
Yes, my days as a non-subscriber to Gametap, the company that’s hosting Uru Live are numbered.
You may recall that I posted about Uru Live in another life. I had forgotten all about it, truth be told. So I’m quite happy that CP let me know. She’s good like that.
I know that a couple of you are either 1.) into games, including massively multiplayer games, 2.) Myst fans, or 3.) both. So, are you playing now, or do your near-future plans include Uru Live? Tell me… I may well run into you in the cavern in the next couple of weeks.
Sweet.
I’ll be watching with my family and enjoying the traditional superbowl dinner: pizza (frozen, not homemade), and wings (homemade).
While I watch, I’ll be sitting here in my chair with the notebook open and my headphones on for at least part of the time. Why? So I can listen to music during the long stretches between commerical breaks. Or maybe I’ll read a book.
As for the ads, unlike some other bloggers who are afraid of a little work, Eric will be blogging the commercials.
I may even stay up late (perhaps all the way until 9:30) if it gets really exciting!
I know exactly what this means! Don’t you?
It means many, many people around the web will still have way too much time on their hands in 2007.
UPDATE: Forget the online version! On Quintura’s site, you’ll find a link to their “about” page where you can download the resident software for free. Its features include controls for accuracy and coverage to create a narrow or broad result map. Plus, Quintura doesn’t perform the search itself, it uses results from any search engine you choose (a feature which is also customizable).
It’s just language I guess, but I just now stumbled on Quintura, which is a cloud based “see and find” app. Try it out.
Thre is a little button at the top right that will add Quintura to the drop down list of your firefox search box.
And there’s a kid version too, called Quintura for Kids.
Cool. I haven’t played with it much, but here’s the resulting cloud for the name of this blog.
Technorati tags: quintura, quintura for kids
