From my daughter’s algebra textbook:
-3^4 [ed. — that’s a 3 with a minus sign in front and an exponent of 4]
= -(3*3*3*3)
=-81
and
(-3)^4
=(-3)(-3)(-3)(-3)
=81
Anybody see a problem here?
