I just emptied out my gmail inbox.
I feel so… accomplished.
UPDATE: Looks like the wire services have picked up this story.
So, here’s a story from our town newsrag.
I didn’t hear about this yesterday, but I was done with my little route by 11am. I had the day off today.
It’s very odd to find cremated human remains in a mail collection box. But did anyone else take note of what is, IMHO, the most interesting aspect of the story?
Police had no record of the deceased person in their files.
Something tells me this story isn’t over yet. I do work tomorrow, so maybe I’ll hear something. I have a pretty good idea who the unnamed carrier is (who, by the way, did exactly what he/she was supposed to do).
Very interesting.
When I bought my nano, I also bought a case to go along with it.
It was this one…
The Contour Showcase
The case is tough and can withstand flying around the passenger compartment of a Honda Passport, but it has a fatal flaw, as the first reviewer noted here:
Earphone adapter opening will ONLY accept the long jacks from either headphones with LONG jacks such as regular headphones or the Apple earbuds.
– Anyone who uses other earphones, such as Shure, will NOT be able to use this case as it will NOT fit!!
– Whoever designed this case must’ve been an IDIOT!!!
I’ll second that. My Sony headphones will work with it but the mini-pin adapter cord from Best Buy that hooks to my car stereo’s aux input will not. Nor will the second one I bought from radio shack. Nor will… you get the idea.
Next I tried the incase neoprene sleeve
The problems with this case are legion, though it does accomodate adapter jacks of any size. First of all, the nano fits so snugly in the sleeve that the scroll wheel doesn’t align correctly with the hole. Which doesn’t matter much anyway, since the hole itself is covered with see through plastic. These facts combine to make scrolling a feat of Herculean strength as you must exert approximately 350 Joules to turn up the volume or scroll through a list without accidentally executing a command or jumping to another menu. Boo! I came up with a hack involving the see through plastic scroll wheel protector and a razor knife, and now the case is workable. Just.
Next…?
My daughter had surgery today.
It was a minor procedure to dig out a rather large and unsighlty wart that had grown on her finger. Minor, and quick, though they did have to put her out for the event.
She’s at home now and everything came out alright.
The interesting thing is that a skin graft was required because the wart was kind of deep. They took a little piece of skin from the side of her hand and sewed it into the hole left by the wart. The doctor told us that when the dressing is removed, we shouldn’t expect to see nice new skin there. We’ll probably see a crusty black looking scab. Apparently the skin graft serves as a cap, and a bridge which allows the skin cells to grow across the gap. After a while the scab peels off, and then there’s new skin.
Pretty cool new learning for me.
When it was all done, daughter was wheeled out to the car and wobbled her way from the chair to the back seat, not unlike a baby deer. Now she’s at home vegging out in front of the TV, hand elevated.
