I done bought me a car. Well, more like a truck (at least to me it is, I’m not used to driving something this big). It looks sort of like this…
If I have a chance I’ll post my own pic tomorrow. Despite my pal Stephen‘s objection, I bought the Honda Passport I looked at; after doing my homework of course. The vehicle’s history is clear, it’s been fastidiously maintained, has low mileage for its age (it’s a 2000) and it runs like new*.
More importantly, it will handle R5‘s mail volume and R7‘s back roads. The regular carrier on R7 likes to say “You’ll love this route in winter when you’re sliding sideways down Coventryville Road.” Not in this thing, buddy.
My monster truck has hi and lo 4WD plus a special “winter” drive train setting that allows you to adjust the power allocation for slippery, icy roads [insert Tim-Allen-like grunt here]. And huge honkin’ tires. It’s nice to know that, if necessary, I can just run over and crush anything that gets in my way… not that I would, mind you.
The first test, albeit a pretty easy one, comes tomorrow when I run R9. The true test comes on Saturday… R5.
But the best part is that my wife now has her Passat back, and if she’s happy, I’m happy.
*The only bad thing is I had to part with my Cabrio. I loved that car. I’m doing my best not to think about it.
