It is a testament to the letter ‘i’ that, used as a prefix, it can cause markets to flutter and otherwise sane, reasonable people to get hysterically excited over a $500 glorified cell phone that doesn’t exist.
Amazing.
Today was an anniversary. One year ago today I had my first day of employment with the USPS. It was a relatively mundane first day, we just sat and watched training videos for four hours (or maybe six) and then went home.
One year later I’ve finally bitten the bullet and purchased a vehicle that will actually help me deliver mail instead of slow me down, but more on that tomorrow.
The one year anniversary for a rural sub like me is somewhat significant. As of today I can bid on an open route and become a full time, regular carrier. There aren’t any open routes right now, especially not here in Pottstown, so it’s not like I’ll be a real mailman any time soon. It’s more of a symbolic kind of thing.
But hey, I made it. That’s something, I guess. Especially when you consider some of my early experiences in the job.
