Hey Jim, Dan McElwain from Cleveland here.

I want you to know I was thinking of you today as I was teaching about the Wounded Knee Massacre at the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. I took my students on a Google Earth tour of the site and the parts of the reservation I could remember. Good times.

Anyway, it struck me how powerfully I was affected by both of the trips I went on with you; one as a snot-nosed high school kid and one as a snot-nosed adult manboy. Thank you for being crazy in your faithful response to God's call on your life back then. I learned a lot about walking in faith from watching you navigate the insanity, live out reckless love, and trust YHWH with (I suspect) many of the details.

Thank you for building into me in ways that still inform who I am as a man of faith, a father, a husband, and a pied piper of complicated young people. I miss you, man.
