amy reads

My younger daughter was given an award tonight for an essay she wrote. She was one of a group of winners (two from each grade in her middle school) whose essays or poems were selected. Each of these students read their essay at the beginning of tonight’s school board meeting. I guess this was something that had been done in the past but fell out of practice. It was brought back by the school board this year.

It was fun, and what’s even better, they didn’t make us stay for the rest of the bored meeting.

Here are a couple of pictures of the award winner reading and clowning with the others…

She’s purty.

Thanks. And she’s a ham too.

She looks just like you…only prettier. ;-)

Will she let you post her essay? Congratulations to Amy (and her parents, for raising another great writer)!

I was always worried for her because she looked like me from birth. Obviously she’s got the good portion of my looks. The rest comes from her mother.
