image In amongst the items in enbar’s clipmarks feed (currently found in the lower left sidebar) was this gem  that illustrates how corrupt higher education has become. The shock!

Apparently,

…giving students chocolate leads to improved results for professors. “Fudging the Numbers: Distributing Chocolate Influences Student Evaluations of an Undergraduate Course,” is set to be published in an upcoming edition of the journal Teaching of Psychology.

Like that’s a bad thing.

“Our argument is not that instructors should benefit by giving chocolate but that all evaluations should be given in more standardized ways to limit the effects of extraneous things like how they are handed out.”

Personally, I don’t care how the chocolate is handed out, so long as I get dark.

Uh oh!*

Since that letter was distributed this afternoon, the school district has posted an update on their website saying that another school is closed.

Just last week the school district immediately south of us also had a staph issue.

And while we’re at it, how about some info on MRSA infections from WebMD, and also from Wikipedia. Here is quite an alarming factoid, also from Wikipedia.

*I’m going to give our school district the benefit of the doubt and believe that the incorrect date at the top as well as the hatchet job on the English language perpetrated by the last paragraph of the letter are the result of a rush to get the information into the public’s hands. Students at the middle school were kept fifteen minutes after the closing bell awaiting the arrival and distribution of the letter.

image Have you heard of goji berries? Me either. I guess their more common name is Wolfberry. It also appears that this is a super [aka, in most cases, fad] food. I don’t really care if it’s super or not if it tastes good, and these do. At least when surrounded by muffiny goodness they do.

I just tried a goji berry muffin… almost no fat, bran added, totally, ridiculously healthy and it actually tasted good.

Bob, the head chef of Java’s Brewin’ (and also the owner) invented the recipe himself after many of his customers requested a low fat muffin.

Good job, Bob!

Which one of you jokers rang my phone at 5:38 this morning? Once.

Don’t all shake your heads like that.

It wasn’t the US Government… that’s what my call list says when the PO interrupts my slumber, and that’s who I thought it was of course… it was a wireless caller. It wasn’t one of the other subs either. Well, there is one whose number I don’t know and it could have been him. It wouldn’t surprise me either.

So now I’m sitting here waiting to see if this stinkin’ phone is going to ring again and rob me of a free day.

<<waiting>>

Oh well, I’m up now. Here’s a subject line from some gmail spam I received today, quoted exactly as it appeared…

Your new s’e_xual world is waiting for its leader

Leadership is in such short supply these days.

As you were.
