day of ick

The mail wasn’t all that heavy today, and thank the Lord for that.

The unspoken rule about being a sub is, you’re not supposed to get sick. Today one of the subs, the most senior sub in fact, called in sick.

Called in sick for the second time in two weeks.

Called in sick on a Saturday, which is when most of the regular carriers are off.

Today was supposed to be a relatively easy day. I was scheduled for routes 8 and 9, and was hoping to be done with both by noon, which was good because I needed to do another interview for one article, begin writing a second, buy a birthday present for a friend, and make slides for worship tomorrow. There were a couple of additional tasks in the mix but I’ve forgotten what they were.

Instead the PO called at 7:10am to tell me I would be doing route 4 (a full size route), plus route 9. When the day was over, Tina, Ann, and I had between the three of us delivered five routes.

There was no interview, no writing, no buying of birthday present. But hey, I got the slides done.
