Giz has changed its mind twice on the i(can’tusemy)Phone.
A while back they said wait,
then they were about to say “run out and buy one”, but other factors intervened and now they say “don’t do it!“
I can’t blame them, really. Gizmodo’s beef is with Apple’s unwillingness to play nice with third party applications, whether intended to unlock the phone or not. Most of those apps will no longer work with Apple’s new firmware upgrade (1.1.1)… nor will your phone if you’ve installed one of the third party unlocking programs that frees the phone form its slavery to AT&T. Giz has in the last couple of hours posted about getting your iPhone back to work, post bricking.
What does this mean? Who knows. Maybe it only proves once again the wisdom of waiting for the second version before making your first purchase. In this case, perhaps waiting for the third or fourth. Or maybe it proves that you should just get an iPod touch instead, and who cares about your phone.
Thank ya Coffeepastor.
