Randy spilled the beans shortly after I had dinner with him, his wife and his son. But I have a fairly unremarkable photo as proof that I was indeed in Indianapolis this afternoon. I’m not in Indianapolis anymore.
Gwynne guessed that I was half way to Kansas City, which is true even though KC is, sadly, not in my travel plans (there you go Randy, another clue!).
Ladies and gentlemen, the Scarlet Stang…
Budget dude: “How many people are traveling with you?”
Me: “Just me.”
Budget dude: “Do you want a mustang?
BD: “I have a mustang?”
Me: “I don’t know, I was kinda concerned about gas mileage, that’s why I asked for a compact.”
BD: “You’d be surprised how good the new mustangs are on gas.”
Me: …
BD: “It’s either a mustang of a Hyundai Sonata.”
Me: “Mustang.”
Budget so pleased me last year, providing the Beige Bull with unlimited mileage. This year they provided me with some mopey maroon. As I drove it on Friday after picking it up, I noticed I wasn’t getting very good radio reception. The radio also didn’t have an auxiliary input for my nano. I expected that, and so I went to Target and picked up a Belkin receiver. When I tried to hook it up, I couldn’t get much of a signal at all. I tried the same item in my Passport and it worked perfectly.
That was about when I noticed the antenna on mopey maroon was missing. Just gone.
In addition to the earlier low tire (with less than 10lbs of pressure) this prompted a phone call to Budget this morning. WIth no questions asked, they said “bring it in and we’ll give you another car.”
So I had to delay my departure by about a half an hour or so today, but as you will see, Budget did me right. Very right. Oh, so right.
More tomorrow, I’m spent.
