skip this post if bragging parents aren’t your thing

My daughter’s fifth grade teacher told my wife and I that we should make sure to attend today’s awards presentation at school. We did, although my wife had to return to work before it was through.

There really isn’t another way to put it. Amy cleaned up. She walked off with something like 10 certificates and awards. One of these was the school’s highest honor, the Engel Award, which honors the memory of a man who died in 1935. He left behind a fund to benefit the highest academic achievers in the elementary schools in town. It is awarded to the top three students, with what are apparently incremental bonds for each place. Amy was first.

We celebrated with ice cream this evening, of course.

I should add that Amy’s older sister was one of last year’s Engel Award recipients.

Okay, bragging over.

This is an absolutely wonderful achievement. I love brilliant little female students. Congratulate your daughter for me, please.

I certainly will. Thank you.

That’s awesome. Congratulations to Amy! You *should* be proud, and a little bragging is definitely in order.

It’s always ok to brag about your kids. My 5th grader earned the Principal’s award this year, as well as winning the county spelling contest. Woo-hoo!

Good parents produce good students - congrats to the bunch of ya!

Ain’t braggin’ if you can back it up, right? Congratulations to both of your daughters and you’re allowed that wide smile beaming back from the mirror. You and your wife did well.

I guess that shouldn’t strike me as “amazing” which is what I started to say…great parenting and great job on both of your daughters’ part! A little bragging goes a long way in providing them the moral support they need as they grow up, so brag away! :-)
