I done bought me a car. Well, more like a truck (at least to me it is, I’m not used to driving something this big). It looks sort of like this…
If I have a chance I’ll post my own pic tomorrow. Despite my pal Stephen‘s objection, I bought the Honda Passport I looked at; after doing my homework of course. The vehicle’s history is clear, it’s been fastidiously maintained, has low mileage for its age (it’s a 2000) and it runs like new*.
More importantly, it will handle R5‘s mail volume and R7‘s back roads. The regular carrier on R7 likes to say “You’ll love this route in winter when you’re sliding sideways down Coventryville Road.” Not in this thing, buddy.
My monster truck has hi and lo 4WD plus a special “winter” drive train setting that allows you to adjust the power allocation for slippery, icy roads [insert Tim-Allen-like grunt here]. And huge honkin’ tires. It’s nice to know that, if necessary, I can just run over and crush anything that gets in my way… not that I would, mind you.
The first test, albeit a pretty easy one, comes tomorrow when I run R9. The true test comes on Saturday… R5.
But the best part is that my wife now has her Passat back, and if she’s happy, I’m happy.
*The only bad thing is I had to part with my Cabrio. I loved that car. I’m doing my best not to think about it.

Car withdrawal. Hard thing. New car smell? Very, very addictive. You may have to go through some deliverance, dude!

I actually have a can of “new car smell.” It works pretty well, but a little goes a long way.

Nice lift. When will you be practicing your ghost riding in that thing?

Buff whip, truckboy.
So, how many cupholders does it have?

It’s got six I think, at least. Though I only need two: one for the Sbux travel mug and one for the bottled water, since coffee is a diuretic.
BTW are you, like, memorizing the urban dictionary, or what?

Can’t blame you for missing the other car! Still, new cars are fun! 6 Cup holders? sweet!
What does buff whip mean anyway? While my definition would be interesting, I doubt it would be right lol.

Kewl wheels! Now if you could just do something about gas mileage, you’d really be cookin’.

Jim, about Eric, I was thinking the same thing. He might be hangin on the streets out here…of course, I don’t know where that street might be, but he is getting the lingo down!

Whisky,
you’ve hit on the #1 reason why I avoid SUVs and minivans. This thing eats gas for lunch and takes seconds on dessert. That’s unfortunate, but the room and the 4wd is what I need right now.
Janie,
Yes, he is getting it down. I’m learning a lot from reading his hipster jive.

Sorry, I guess I’m just yearning for the misspent youth I never had.
Blogging, in general, seems to be doing a pretty good job of making up for it, though.

Congrats on the new car!
Just don’t be mean and try to run us little sedan owners over.

Mwah ha ha!
(Actually, I’ve been on the sedan end of this arrangment for so long, I couldn’t even consider taking revenge… for now).
