A man named Steven Wright was arrested for some heinousness in the UK.
But the real story is the ingenious headline and subsequent comments on the fark post about the story. Countless minutes of fun to be had.
I secretly added a new blog to the roll a few days ago. Did you catch it? It’s called Dark Roasted Blend, although when you follow the link you find yourself at a domain called thrillingwonder. It’s alright. However you get there, it’s a neat blog.
Avi primarily posts photos with a bit of explanatory text. He finds all kinds of cool stuff! Like the world’s most dangerous roads (yowza!), and pictures of world leaders with babies (or in the last case, world leaders ogling babes). His the only blog I know of with a series of lenticular cloud pictures; and we’ve all been looking for that, right?
I found Avi because he found me. For reasons unknown, he added me to his rather brief blogroll. I’m glad he did since my obsessive linkback checking habit revealed his misjudgment pretty quickly, thereby allowing me to discover his blog. Which I’m now telling you about.
Avi’s got lots of other pages too, including a ton of SciFi and Fantasy stuff as well as some homegrown music.
A cool place on the web. Get ye hence.
A couple of people have posted their own desk pictures since yesterday. It’s made me nostalgic for my days in advertising research. We used to do “ethnographic” interviews, where we would visit someone (usually a person who fit the ‘target’ profile for one of our ad campaigns) in their home and see how they lived their lives. We shot pictures (on slide film) to craft a presentation for our clients.
One of the things we always made sure we shot was the interviewee’s refrigerator door. Very rarely did we encounter a fridge door that didn’t yield a whole bunch of information about the household. The clients always found them fascinating.
Well, this whole desk meme thing fascinates me in much the same way those ethnos, with their fridge door pictures, used to.
Here’s mis_nomer’s desk.
Here’s Whisky’s (at the end of the post).
Here’s Gwynne’s description and links to pictures of her desk.
Did I miss anyone? Maybe you’d like to play along.
And thanks again to Spookyrach for the idea.
